Pokemon Black
It has been a while since I've posted something that wasn't a Pokepun or any other PokeJoke. Some of you big Pokemon fans might know that Pokemon Black and White were both released over a week ago. I was certainly excited to get a copy of the game (well sort of) and so far, I already have beaten 3 Gym Leaders. My thoughts and impression of the new 5th generation Pokemon I've encountered so far are mixed. Some Pokemon look pretty cool, but many of them seem to be recycled from previous generations, except now they look worse... I mean 150+ new pokemon is great, but if many look bad, you might as well say that Pokemon added merely 25-50 Pokemon in Generation 5.
For those who play, you encounter the first Gym at the 3rd city you arrive it, Sanyou City. There are actually 3 leaders, but you only fight one. The leader you go against will use one of the 3 elemental monkeys that has the type advantage over the starter, which really blows because it is like trying to make a team to go against Brock back in Yellow Version.
I mean seriously, using Physical Attacks against Rock Pokemon is such a cheap move by the game makers. Luckily for us in Pokemon Black/White, a girl east of Sanyou City located at the Site of Dreams will gift you one of the elemental monkeys, specifically the type that will counter the Gym Leader's.
After getting one of these, you should be ready to take on the Gym Leader (I do recommend training your monkey a little bit). The leaders, whomever you get, should not to be too hard to defeat as long as you aren't too underleveled.
All three Gym leaders will have a lvl 12 Yorterrie, which is not too hard to defeat, then depending on the leader, you will face a lvl 14 elemental monkey. Defeat the leader, and you will be rewarded the Trio Badge and TM 83.

The badge looks pretty sleek (don't mind the picture, it's just heavily pixelated), so I suppose there is some visual appeal to Pokemon Black. TM 83 teaches Cheer Up, which buffs both Attack and Special Attack by one level, so great for mixed sweepers and such. And of course, we can't forget that the badge grants you the ability to use HM 01, Cut, outside of battle.

Pokemon Black and White Legendaries
So, like any new generation, each one revolves around a set of legendary Pokemon that defines the generation (well, sorta for the first generation) such as Lugia and Ho-oh. Black and White is modeled off the Ying Yang theme, thus creating the legends of this generation.
This is Reshiram, the White Yang Pokemon, who is a Fire/Dragon type (about time they came up with this typing combo). It looks somewhat legendary, and I think the typing sort of suck, because now it is weak against Rock and Ground moves, but at least it resist the Ice Moves that many dragons have issues facing.
The counterpart legend is Zekrom, the Black Yang Pokemon, who is both Electric and Dragon type. In my opinion, it looks more Dark/Dragon type, but that we need an Electric/Dragon Pokemon. It's typing does not really give it much defensive advantage, since you don't see a whole lot of Flying or Steel attacks, plus now it is weak against Ground attacks. Of course, it is double resistant to Thunder, and it's Electric attacks will smoke any water types *cough Kyogre* that decides to face it (if you aren't named Swampert or Quagsire).
I hope this legendary Pokemon are somewhat interesting, seeing that Palkia and Dialga were ehh in my opinion.

More Pre-released Pokemon
So here a few more Pre-released Pokemon (credits to Serebii).
This is Minezumi, a Normal type raccoon looking Pokemon. It has abilities Run Away and Keen Eye, which could be a bad sign that this guy is not going to be great in Pokemon Metagame, not to mention even playing in-game, but we will have to wait and see how this guy's base stats holds up.
This is Meguroko, a Ground/Dark crocodile-Pokemon. I believe this is the first Ground/Dark combo (someone correct me if I'm wrong). This could be an interesting typing, for he will probably get STAB Dark attacks, great against some Ubers and STAB Earthquake, but of course, we have to wait and see how its base stats holds up. Abilities are Intimidate and Earthquake Spiral (no idea what that is).
And finally, this is Shimama, an Electric type, which looks like the Lightning version of a Girafarig... but hopefully this guy will have some potential, but most Electric types lack a great move pool along with it's weakness to Earthquake... Abilities are Lightning Rod and Motor Drive.
Stay tuned for more pre-release updates.

Pre-release Pokemon
These is a sneak peek of the new Pokemon in the 5th generation. This was actually released quite some time ago in the CoroCoro issue during June, but if you have not seen these Pokemon, then here are a few.
This is Chillarmy (Japanese name of course). It is Normal type, it could have a variety of moves. It doesn't look really tough, but its Technician ability could probably make this guy interesting.
This is Gear, the well... Gear Pokemon! Steel type, with a Plus and Minus ability, so for those who Double Battle, now you don't always have to shove a Minun next to Plusle (then again, who uses these two Pikachu mimics, anyways?). I'm curious to see if this Pokemon has any special attacks, otherwise, they are better off attached to the screwed on a Magnemite =\
And finally this is Manepato, the Baby Pigeon Pokemon. I guess the Pokemon company always has to stick some Normal/Flying type bird in every single damn generation, but hopefully this won't be a Pidgeot/Fearow/Noctowl. It does gain Super Luck, for your Critical Hax pleasure, and Pigeon Heart, a new ability that prevents reduction of the defense stat (maybe useful if its evolution learns Close Combat?). I wonder how this will turn out...
So these are the three Pokemon I'll talk about for now, stay tuned for more. And Black and White comes out in 2 weeks, quite exciting. Hope you Pokemon fans pre-ordered it (of course, those who can read Japanese).

Video for Triple Battle
Possible Evolutions for the Starters
This isn't entirely confirmed, but these are possible pictures for the evolve forms of the Black and White Starters.
In my opinion, the grass and water evos look pretty cool, but I can't really say the same about the fire.....
